AMD FX series, 8 core processors.
I recently replaced one of my computers with an AMD 640 quad core processor, MSI 760GM E51 motherboard, 600 watt power supply, 16 gig DDR3, Nvidia 8400 video board, and a 1.5 TB hard drive. So, I got my income tax refund and decided to replace my oldest computer. Went over to our local Fry's, and selected an MSI 760 P23 mobo, 600 watt power supply, Antec window box, and 8 gig DDR3. Was looking at the processors and noticed two at the top. I asked the clerk what they were. He told me and I selected the AMD FX 8120, 8 core processor, and a Samsung, 128gig SSD. Installed Win 7, 64 bit, and Peppermint2 Linux, 64 bit. Linux boots up in under 15 seconds, to a usable desktop, and that includes logging in with user name and password. Win 7 takes about 25 seconds. But you really notice the speed when installing software. I added a Seagate 500 gig SATA HD for backup.
